Tasuku Matsuoka and Taizo Nakasone both pleaded guilty to a charge of inflicting bodily injury resulting in the death of 26-year-old Akihiro Koga, but argued that they were only trying to protect themselves.

Sorry, but in the U.S. the judge would ask, "when the victim was down on the ground, and you continued to beat him to death, at what point do you think self-defense is not a valid argument?"
