But I think that quote should be rewritten:
Our long-term goal is to set up a base on the Moon and mine its riches for the benefit of humanity at a profit to us

I hope their engineers get it right this time:
Another rocket blew up after take-off in early 1996 and, later in the year, a Long March rocket placed a $120m Chinese satellite in the wrong orbit, leaving it to drift hopelessly in space

I don't doubt they can do it, but at what cost?

...if it's all home-grown technology, the government can dictate the costs involved in China. 8O

Japan will have to start building a bigger rocket if they want to hit California/PearlHarbor....I mean *Ahem* *cough*...if they want to hit those fucking Koreans.

The Russians, French and Chinese already have nice sized rockets that can rapidly deliver multiple good size nuclear warheads to any part of the globe

It's just a matter of time before the big one starts over oil. The 'Japanese' and Chinese are already at war, the peace just hasn't broken out yet.
Unspoken Conflict
While no country save Taiwan (and, increasingly, Japan) likes to admit it publicly, there is today a 堵reat game・underway for primacy in Asia, and the nations in the neighborhood are learning how to play it. The region痴 two most powerful democracies--India and Japan--are clearly taking steps to modernize their militaries, as well as to deepen their bilateral ties with one another, at least in part as a check against Chinese power.

Image

The Pentagon has estimated that China is spending three times what it says it spends on defense development--equaling about $90 billion a year, making it the third largest defense spender in the world next to America and Russia.

Image

Which is why Japan is re-arming to the teeth and sucking up to America to spend more on it's defense.

Tokyo fears mount over `destabilizing' arms clout

The mainland's growing military strength and its tense relationship with Taiwan are major destabilizing factors in East Asia, according to a strategy report by a think-tank affiliated with Japan's Defense Ministry.

And don't forget our friends the Indians

I think it was homesweethome that schooled me,
but anyways he's right when he says there's an 'Unspoken Conflict' going on - think of Korean protestors, Japan's oil desire for takeshima, or China getting annoyed with Ishihara's Yasukuni antics.

As you see in the Middle-East the USA doesn't look as tuff as it once did, it is now getting a beating from a bunch of jihad camel fuckers. The next time trouble breaks out in Asia uncle sam won't be there to baby sit the Korean MDP brats and Japanese-Jiminto to prevent them from being naughty....

...meanwhile China is no longer behaving like a childish little brat but has grown into one of the Big-boys and is investing in space-tech, military, and industry but is keeping quiet...
..Chinese wait
...China waits and grows and its guns get bigger, its tech grows better and its nukes get deadlier

I think the India alliance thing is fucked - it could be the weak link. Japan thinks India will be a pal and Bush likes to outsource to that dump but the Indians are a bunch of turncoats and back stabbers, like the Iranians and Saudis were to the US. Most of the time India were buying up Soviet tech to destory American stuff, Pakistan also is a strong ally of the US but Pakistan and India hate each other and already fought 3 wars ( India tried to beat them while often getting their asses kicked by a smaller nation Pakistan ). India won't ally against Russia, the French or China, they just want to get their hands on US technology so they can turn it back on the United States like Venezuela or Iranians have done in the past.

You'll get those facts anywhere - read a political book or check a news website
folks like Kissinger knew India was a Soviet they were really a cold-war enemy against the USA and its friends such as Australia/Canada who were against the USSR, China is getting very friendly with Venezulea and India and Cuba and whoever else....while Chavez has been in India for energy talks and military deals, even Canada is getting sick of Bush and is no longer such an ally of the United States while Europe is going to the left or socialist. Chavez is kinda cool at least he's blunt like the Russians or French and will tell the USA he's sick of Bush, at least he has the decency to say it to America's face. Unlike those other backstabbers who try to play the pseudo friend game while sticking a knife in the UnitedStates back.
There are plenty of facts on India's backstabbing but here are some other high-tech military equipment 'Made in the USA'

I can add

Postby homesweethome » Fri Mar 31, 2006 9:50 am

Not much in the news lately but throw into the equasion the fact of China's Road to Afghanistan and you can see why the Pakistanis are chumping up to the Chinese.

Pakistan is upgrading the importance of a major road artery in the face of growing security threats.

During a meeting of National Highway Authority presided over by Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz a 1,600-mile road running from China through Kyrgyzstan and Afghanistan to the Pakistani port of Gwadar has been declared the "Asian Highway."

This means China (which has always had more success in land wars) can move their 200 million plus army into the middle east and this really screws up Bush's (or actually Cheney's and Haliburtons) pipeline from Uzbekistan to the sea in Pakistan, which Bush paid for in blood with the war in Afghaninstan and Iraq, and really the whole middle east when the big push comes to shove over the oil.

I must be looking at too many opinionated sites. I don't see all of that shown there!

even Canada is getting sick of Bush and is no longer such an ally of the United States

You mean Dimwit hates me now? What was one of the main parts of the plank that got the new Canadian Government elected? Hate the US?

Chavez is kinda cool

He's about as cool as a turd in a punchbowl. If he keeps playing his games with his own oil industry producers, his own people may well solve that problem. His rants are directed at what he considers his "man on the street audience" and he may find that they may vote for him, but really don't give a damn when the heavy hitters in business squash him like a the pissant he is.

Tehran's F14 tomacts

Do the fly without parts like their leftover F15s?

I wonder if someone can bribe Newdelhi for a few nuke warheads ?

No chance. Pakistan has corrnered the market for all illicit sales of Nuke technology! They would probably file a WTO complaint if anyone tried to horn in.

Here's the kind of real shit you can find in some of those state dot gov archies, Kissinger's love diary or Nixons watergate tapes

and I quote :

"That fucking Indian bitch is nothing but a Soviet-stooge... that Indian whore is sucking up to those commie-Ruskies and selling her underpants in an attempt to weaken Pakistan fatally...... Indira Gandhi is a bitch somebody should whack her.... .....Indians are bastards anyway and they are starting another war there "

China on Wednesday lifted a communications satellite into orbit, less than a week after its previous launch, state media said.

The Zhongxing-22A satellite was sent into space aboard a Long March 3A rocket from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in northwest China shortly after midnight, Xinhua news agency reported.
