Ah, this is a pretty good quote from this article:

Mainnichi wrote:A local taxi company has decided to "refuse" customers who try to hail a taxi after diving into the river in celebration of the Tigers victory expected to come this week.

"Our drivers will not take customers stained with river sludge," an official of the company said. "Such filthy customers would cause problems for passengers coming after them."

I wouldn't jump into any river or canal in Japan. I doubt the canal running under Ebisubashi is the only waterway in Japan comprised of toxic sludge.

I wouldnt jump into ANY river in any remotely developed country. It's sad how we pollute the water.

Obviously this guy should not have jumped...

I wouldn't jump into any river in an undeveloped country. Think of the Ganges or the Mekong. :crazy3:

Good question Big Booger-san! You know, I really don't know the correct answer though. :biggrin2: I mean it sounds like a real word, so I guess it is. Perhaps I should NOT become an Engrish teacher again.

Too late, Rob - you already are!

I have the phrases "who know that?" and "please very enjoy" stuck in my head. I've even taken to using "who knows that?" when I teach and have put a question out to the class.

::points to a word on the blackboard:: "What does this word mean? Who knows that?"

I can only hope the kids don't lock on to that phrase, otherwise you'll be hearing it from the future leaders of Korea. "What will we do now that our country is again united? Who knows that?"

It is like virus of the mental. How to be stopping it!?! Who knows that?!? 8O
