In January, Mrs. Omae Mona read a note on a message board (so it must be true) from a ticked-off customer of the football-stadium-sized Japanese supermarket where we used to do our shopping near New York. After driving all the way in from Pennsylvania to pick up ingredients for a New Year's osechi meal and returning home, the customer found the kamaboko suspicious. The price tag was covering the expiration date, and when peeled off, it revealed Dec 2002. Mind you, this was in Dec 2003. Yikes 8O
