China's monkeys show gay tendenciesGay.com UK, 17 JuneThe Sichuan Golden Monkeys have apparently been found to partake in gay sex with each other across the Baihe Protection Area, baffling US and Chinese experts.
They made the discovery after conducting field research into the animals, which live across four Chinese provinces. Apparently "strong" males were the most likely to have sex with each other.... scientists last year discovered lesbian and bisexual monkeys in Japan. The macaque species were found to mate with both sexes, while some of the females preferred to form same-sex bonds.
"In some populations, female Japanese macaques sometimes prefer same-sex partners," Dr Paul Vasey told the American Association for the Advancement of Science in Denver last year.
"That occurs even when they are presented with sexually motivated, opposite-sex alternatives."
