Russia still wants Japan peace treaty
Moscow, Russia, Jun. 22 (UPI)... "We do not intend to avoid discussing the subject however complicated it may be," Yajovenko said. Russia and Japan still have to sign a formal peace treaty over the end of World War II in 1945. Still at issue is the ultimate status of several [northern Japanese] islands occupied by the Soviet Union in 1945 and still held by Russia today.
