China has jailed a Japanese aid worker for trying to smuggle two North Korean refugees out of the country.
Takayuki Noguchi, 32, was sentenced to eight months in prison and fined 20,000 Yuan ($2,400) for human trafficking.

In reporting the sentencing of a Japanese man to a prison term for helping North Koreans who entered China to go on to a third country, China's Xinhua News Agency likened him Monday to a member of "snakehead" gang involved in people-smuggling operations.
