Crimes of Chinese Foreign Students Attracts Media Attention
The Epoch Times, translated from the Chinese Edition / Jul 02, 2004
Chinese international student, Zhang Dong, from Kentucky University, is the prime suspect for the murder of his girlfriend, Gu Yan, according to a LEX 18 NEWS report on June 22. Zhang Dong has been charged with first degree murder and is currently being treated in the Kentucky University hospital for injuries received in a suicide attempt in his jail cell.....
In the recent years, international media coverage of Chinese foreign students committing crimes has been on the rise and in now starting to raise some concerns. China has the most students studying overseas of any country in the world, but there is also a significant incidence of murder amongst these students which is bringing their reputation into disrepute.
According to Hong Kong-based Wen Wei Po News, incomplete statistics for the past three years shows that there have been a total of twelve murders and eight kidnappings involving Chinese students. Reports from Japan show that in a 24 hour period from May 26, 2003 there were nine Chinese foreign students detained and arrested for committing crimes....
...kidnappings and murders committed by Chinese students as well as the decrease in their academic ability have both shocked and worried the parents of potential overseas Chinese students. Are they giving their child the chance of a lifetime or are they sending them out of the frying pan and into the fire?

These kids are escaping China and getting a taste of freedom and losing their damn minds.

Or maybe they just want a free ticket home....
I will not abide ignorant intolerance just for the sake of getting along.

I don't think those are bad statistics. I have meet many Chinese and I find them to be the salt of the earth, (of course I tend to meet Chinese who are in America due to some computer related skill) I think it's a double standard - OK these people are Chinese, or Arab, Indian or in the case of Japan, G.I.'s so we have to put them all in a box and judge them on a different criteria.

From my work in a university microbiology lab in the States (2 Americans, 1 Korean, and the remaining 5 Chinese), I was left with nothing but a positive impression of Chinese in school. Then again, school in the States meant a formal college or university rather than 'schools' as defined by laxer standards in Japan.

Scholastically all of asia kicks the western world's ass... simple as that. Now creativity, innovation, and so on... those are well, not so good.. but we are having and influence on the Asian world.. kids are becoming crappy.. yea!!!! baby!!!

You sort of prove the point by going 13 years back in time to find something. That guy who killed 5 people in a warehouse/factory the other, how do you pigeonhole him?
