Woman cycles madly to track down bag-snatching motorbike thief

OSAKA -- A woman sustained minor injuries when she cycled after a motorbike rider who stole a friend's handbag and snatched it back from him, police said.

The 25-year-old heroine who declined to be named was punched in the face and suffered a minor knee injury, but grabbed back a friend's handbag containing about 36,000 yen in cash.

A man riding a motorcycle had come up from behind the woman and her friend just moments earlier, stole the handbag and raced off only for the woman to set off in pursuit on her bicycle.

She tracked him down after a chase of about 120 meters, withstood his fierce attack on her and wrested the handbag away.
