Britain's first taste of the Japanese short-stay capsule hotel will pack a lot of luxury into a little space
Monday September 13, 2004 / The Guardian
It's not exactly a room with a view, but one of the UK's leading entrepreneurs believes Britain is ready for the capsule hotel - a stack of cramped, windowless pods which can be booked for the night, or for a matter of hours.

Well gee, it's a capsule hotel. So true to it's country of origin, it has to have funky beds to assist in proper Japanese nosepicking.
Details on your Techno Wall.

The Future

Postby kurohinge1 » Mon Sep 13, 2004 4:32 pm

... For 10 [pound] an hour, or 75 [pound] a night, guests will be able to sleep in rooms measuring 10 square metres and without any proper windows ...

Which is over 3 times as expensive but over 5 times as spacious as a typical Japanese one (say, in Akasaka).

There's so much potential for the Japanese ones, if you make them portable:

    1. You could order yourself freighted to certain places then hit the sack (while your container is loaded onto a train, etc) and wake up at your destination.
    2. If an occupant dies, they can just seal up the capsule and send them on their way to the next world.
    3. If a criminal is located in one, they can lock them in & transport them that way.

Well, actually, at least 10 times as spacious if you factor in the expected height differences.

 So, if I permanently rent one of the London rooms and fill it with 10 Japanese capsules, I should be able to make about 30,000 yen profit a night.
