Shinsei Bank installs ATMs that take foreign cards
Japan Today, Sept 29
TOKYO — Shinsei Bank announced Tuesady that it has installed ATMs that accept bank cards and credit cards issued by foreign institutions participating in the international VISA and PLUS networks.

TOKYO — Shinsei Bank announced Tuesady that it has installed ATMs that accept bank cards and credit cards issued by foreign institutions participating in the international VISA and PLUS networks.


How about on the weekends? My Shitibank card has a Cirrus symbol on it and it don't work on Sat and Sun. Mizuho is good until, I think, 6PM on both days.

NOTHING but nobody beats Japan Post ATMs at district post offices for accepting alien credit cards or for being open on the weekends. My district post office is open 24/7 for post services and the ATM seems to work until late too (9pm?).

My Citibank Japan card worked 24 hrs a day, 7 days a week at any Citibank branch in Tokyo. Heck, it even works here in Tianjin at HSBC branches (the only foreign-card accepting bank in Tianjin)...
