Forget about all those 9/11 conspiracy theories. I have a better one. Nagashima, or Mr. Baseball, is being propped up and made into a living doll. I switched on the news at 2:00pm and what was the lead story, not the typhoon that killed 14 and destroyed how many houses. No it was a picture of Nagashima with the owner of the Gomiyuri newspapaer Watanabe. While he was there, they talked about how Nagashima wants to be the manager when Japan goes to the China Olympics, and that he loves to eat sushi etc. Meanwhile they kept showing this one photo of him, which probably took ages to get right. Then they quick;ly cut to old stock video of him walking around and talking.
Next they interviewed all these old people in Tokyo who were so happy and said he looked so "Genki", they did the same last night at the Giants game, to which all the fans cheered. But its only one picture show the video.
Would or could this happen with anybody else in the Western world, I ask you? How can the Japanese be so fooled like this?

Marvin I'm sure some newspaper or magazine would love to break this kind of story wouldn't they? Or does the Giants/Yomiyuri/NTV group have that much power that they can effetively squelch any kind of story about him.
I know this is not big news, but when NTV makes it their lead story on a day when there was such other big news, it kind of becomes larger than life.
Also does the Japanese media do this more than the Western media, I mean lie to people. Ok that is a bit strong but that is what in effect they are doing?
