Growing weary of the apocolyptic fare on the J-telly, dingo dragged out - much to his wife's annoyance - his old DVD of "Waterworld." Watching it, dingo had what Taro-sama might call an epiphany. Like a coy mistress or a great work of literature, Waterworld yields its secrets only to those who invest the requisite patience and effort. Well, dingo made the investment, and this was his epiphany: the "Smokers" are Jiminto. To a Tee. I mean, even the name. When the Deacon of the 'Deez (Dennis Hopper) delivers his camp-classic oration to the Smokers, what he says sounds exactly like a paleo-Jiminto member's speech to his rustic constituents:

"If there's a river, we'll dam it, and if there's a tree, we'll ram it! 'Cause I'm talkin' progress, folks!"
