CNN's American Morning team will be hosting the show from Japan in the week from December 13th. Hope Jack Cafferty makes the trip.

...According to Eric, today on CNN's American Morning, one of the anchors apparently made an offensive, derogatory, racist comment. During the nine o'clock hour, while reading answers to questions of the day, anchor Jack Cafferty read a comment from a Japanese viewer. After finishing reading the comment, he remarked that there are translators working in Japan to translate this broadcast from English to Japanese. Then he said, "Well let me give them something that is hard to quote," and proceeded to render a crude mocking of the Chinese language. Yes, he uttered the "ching chong" sounds.

No, all the celebrities have giant heads here in the states. I think it is some throw-back to the Betty Boop era. Only now their heads are really tall, instead of wide.

I try not to watch American morning too much.

The 'forced' joviality between the presenters borders on group mania. I can't stand that much sugar at one time.

However the dislike that just about everybody on the show has for Jack Cafferty does pop through from time to time.

Apparently Bill Hemmer gives him the nazi salute every time he walks on the set.

Hemmer, who has been with CNN since 1995 and is now based in New York, has reported from Afghanistan, Kuwait, Kosovo and a variety of global hotspots, winning Emmy awards for local and national reporting.

In their visit to the home of foreign journalism in Japan, the CNN team will be at the Club to listen as well as comment on key issues of the day, such as the value of international news in a highly specialized media age.

ROCCA: And Wolf Blitzer who, in my book, is actually Japanese. Wolf is my Pat Morita-like karate kid sensei and if you freeze frame on Wolf as he is there and you stare at him long enough, he really does become Japanese.

KING: You know that's true, if you stare long enough.

ROCCA: He invites me to his beautiful Japanese garden home in Bethesda where I shalack his floors and prune his Bonsai trees in return for some canned advice. But he's really terrific.
