Tokyo -Nearly 64% of Japanese women in their 20s and 30s surveyed said they have been groped on trains, subways or at transit stations in Tokyo, according to a news report on Tuesday.
Women polled by the Tokyo metropolitan government and railway operator JR East found almost two-thirds were fondled while commuting on the transit system, the national Yomiuri newspaper reported. Most said they were fondled on several occasions in the past year. ...more...

First off I would like to direct this to the female members on our board.
Have any of you been groped on a train or subway? How did you deal with it. Is is possible(and I'm not excusing the chikans here) but is it possible that with such a crush of people that some of the groping may be accidental. IE someones bag or briefcase rubbing against someone or the like.
Have any of you FG been to Rome? I haven't but a good friend of mine has and she said that Italian buses are notorious for men groping women, especially foreign women. I think she was on a bus to visit the Vatican of all places. Now does Italy have a big problem and have they isntituted women only buses and trains. Just a few questions for someone who lives out in the sticks and hardly ever rides the trains. Hell the train we have here in Hachinohe goes nowhere fast.

I remember one time I was on a bus with my mother and father in Hawaii. We were on vacation. An american kid was harassing a Japanese tourist in this fashion. My dad punched him in the nose.

But I guess a lot of Japanese aren't willing to make a scene for someone elses sake. I would probably do the same thing as my father.
