Scandal-ridden governor wins re-election in Kochi
Mainichi News / Nov 29KOCHI -- Gov. Daijiro Hashimoto won re-election in Sunday's gubernatorial election called after having stepped down over an election funding scandal ....
The former head of Hashimoto's election campaign staff is alleged to have used money donated by a construction company that had won a prefectural public works contract through bid-rigging to repay 100 million yen in debts to the leader of the governor's supporting body....more...

I dunno how bad Hashimoto is, but he did resign after the scandal and sought re-election unlike almost all LDP politcians who have been caught with there hand in the cookie jar, so he does seem to show a modicum of principles. I really wonder just how bad his opponent (who was backed by the LDP and Komeito) was. :roll:

Talking to some friends down in Kochi and they were telling me that Hashimoto was supported by Governor Tanaka of Nagano and that all his opponent could mustle is some pro wrestler/LDP diet member.

Actually, Hashimoto has been a reformer (he favors foreign voting rights) and should not at all be compared to his brother.
