the Msn link ?
I thought the msn link was ok  it was a good read, we have to keep in mind its not only Japanese that kill their young ones. Cruelty from parents also happens in the west, so its not a bad idea to look at it from another perspective :!:

You're not serious, are you?

The US is the country that invented the "L'il Sizzler."
1. Leave the kid in a car on a hot day while you're off doing whatever.
2. Let kid roast.
3. Act distraught when you "discover" that your child is dead.
4. Play the grieving parent card.
5. No charges will be filed because "you've suffered enough."

It's the perfect crime and it happens every summer.
More caustic. Less saint.

The only thing that amazes me is that on one in this country seems to be aware of the term 'Gambling Addiction'. No recognition, no treatment, no awareness of the social costs.

Come on, that's not surprising at all!

You know who owns/controls all the pachinko parlours right?

And you'd have to be living under a rock to not know that those same gentle folks regularly pay off elected lawmakers & the police.

Try picketing outside a pachinko parlour.......

Actually, Japan has a big Gamblers Anonymous program. But, I do not know if many people attend because many would think it would be an embarrassment. There is a GA website with information and meeting times.

There are Indian casinos popping up all over the country here. In California, there was a big push to stop building the casinos, but it is politically driven. The state needs money. But, there are many people who can gamble for enjoyment, and those that cant.

The suicide rate for Compulsive Gamblers is growing. Canada and Autralia are the same..Basically, every country. GA is in many countries around the world.

I had a friend in GA and learned a lot about how bad it is out there. Many people leave their kids or pets in the car to play in the casinos. SAD and Many do get off...men too.

Sorry to hear about the baby dying.....it is something that happens everday here in the US. Something has got to give eventually....

I reckon to be a gambling addict one has to possess the ability to completely ignore logic - not that that is something entirely unique ("It will be interesting to look back on today's events one year from now. Iraq will be exposed for having WOMD..." Thu Feb 20, 2003 3:56 pm).

Yes self delusion(sp.?) is a major part of a gambling addiction, sad but true most gambling addicts have no concept of impact on others with their actions.

And yes this is only my opinion, based on ten years work in a Casino and having two close relatives who are gambling addicts.
