The Tokyo Central Station Commuters Corps and Chiyoda Ward will jointly hold an emergency commuter evacuation drill for foreigners on Thursday in the area around the Imperial Palace in Tokyo. During the fifth annual Chiyoda Ward Foreigners Emergency Evacuation Drill, participants will learn how to respond as commuters to disaster situations that are likely to result if a strong earthquake hits central Tokyo. Instructions will be provided in English. Participants will meet at the Saiwai-dori underground space near JR Tokyo Station, check the locations of evacuation sites and walk to Kojimachi. The evacuation drill course ends at the Chiyoda Ward Office. Prior to the drill, Kyoto University Prof. Hiroaki Maruya will give a lecture titled "Business Continuity Plan in Japan" in English. The program also includes drills on emergency lifesaving and using automated external defibrillators. Participants will also learn to collect information during a disaster by reading quick response codes with a cell phone.
