A new event for the Society this year. This Hanami will include the gourmet quality of food and wine that members have come to expect from the Annual BBQ. Due to the lunchtime timeframe, it is an ideal event for families, couples and groups. There will be fun for all ages.

Special guests are the Tokyo Gaijin Rugby Football Club who will be demonstrating their superior passing skills.

...and who certainly won't be mentioning to the boys back home that they went to a party to look at the pretty flowers.;) :D
Just out of interest, what does the Australian Society do (apart from having regular piss-ups, that's a given)?

Which includes passing-off, passing-up, passing-the-buck, making passes at anything in a dress and, finally, passing-out.

My kind of a party. It's a shame those damn flower gazers always get in the way!

Check the site. Australia Society Tokyo

Basically it is a social club - been around for over 50 years in Tokyo. BBQ's, kids events, adults events, Melbourne Cup event, Australia Day charity ball etc. Piss-ups of course - sometimes there are pub nights, quiz nights, grand final watching etc. But most of the BBQ's and lunches and Balls provide great food and good wine as the committee members want to have the best quality for the budget. As we don't want to make a profit, everything goes into getting the good stuff and not cheap nasty plonk.

All the committee members are volunteers and it is a registered NPO. The ball raises funds for charities both here in Japan and Australia and has helped other charities like Tsunami relief funds and pet projects for Australians like the Steve Waugh Orphanage in Sri Lanka (I think).

If you are looking for business groups, there is the ANZCCJ (Australia and New Zealand Chamber of Commerce) that has seminars, networking meetings etc.

They are cooking the food on the BBQ and then tossing the footie around. Here's hoping for great weather.

Got one on my blog.

Was a gorgeous day. Lots of great food etc. It seemed to go really well and sold out with over 300 adults and 80 or so kids.

There was only one person who drank too much and passed out on the grass... she was Japanese. :nihonjin:

That's a lie, I woke up in the bushes on the far right corner away from the buildings.
