Hockey in/near Tokyo

Postby barrn » Tue Jun 22, 2010 6:12 am

I'll be living in Mitaka for the next year, and even though it's unlikely, I figure it's worth asking. Does anyone in/around the Tokyo area know of any hockey games in the area? Ice or roller doesn't matter, and I'm looking for anything from a friendly pickup game to an organized league. I figure the chances are slim to none, but if there's any hockey to be had in Tokyo, I'll pack my skates and my stick.

If you know any place to find a game in that area, let me know. Otherwise, I guess NHL 11 will have to suffice for the next year.

I know a Canadian guy who lives in Chiba / works in Tokyo who used to play in a local mens ice hockey league. I don't know much at all about it but can ask him if no one here has first-hand info.
And you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again
The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death

Only league I know of is the ice center next to Higashi-Kanagawa station. I know some guys who played there a while ago. There is also a rink somewhere around the Seibu stadium.

I play in Chiba and Tokyo. There are a lot of teams in the Kanto area but not so many rinks.

Thanks for all the useful info. I checked out the TSHA and I think I'm gonna try to get involved with that.

Do you think I should bring my sticks from home? Or is it easy to find good sticks and other equipment over there.

I play on a team that's based out of the Higashi-Fushimi rink. We're in the "super league" which is decently competitive. If any of you are looking to join, PM me, we could use some more players!

hey man, my name is Jesse I'm living in Fujisawa. I've been looking for a place to play hockey in Kanto for a while. Hope your still online, could you let me know what nights you guys play. What kind of gear do I need? Is it full contact or beer league? I have basic gear here, but I can have the rest sent from the states. You can email me at jesseelam [at] hotmail [dot] com or give me a text on my keitai at 080-fourfourfourone-threetwoohnine.

Thanks,
Jesse

There are few FG on here that play, check the previous messages in this thread.
BTW, not the best idea putting your e-mail and phone # on here. For one thing, it's an invitation to SPAM bots to fill up your inbox with crud from now until eternity. You can send/receive PMs after you've made a couple of posts on here.

Just guessing but the nearest rink to you is probably Yokohama.

http://www.princehotels.co.jp/skate/shinyokohama/

I don't know what they have available there but I'm sure whoever runs the hockey shops there and around the area will be able to let you know what's available. Are you looking to just play pickup or join a league?
