Photo outing?

Postby AlbertSiegel » Sat Oct 22, 2011 3:44 pm

Anybody want to meet up in Yoyogi Park for some photography fun? The idea is just to walk around and play with our cameras. Just a day of hanging out and BS for us photo nuts.

I'm not sure when, but just starting to plan for a date that can work for all willing to attend.

All the gaijin have left. At least all the smart ones. And they are never, ever coming back.

You and everyone else here will leave soon too.

John Foster Dulles lost the first one when he convinced Ike not to intercede with carrier based aircraft against the artillery and attacking Vietminh forces surrounding DBP. However, if you want to feel better about it, all the Vietminh's howitzers used to smash the entire DPB complex were US equipment furnished by China. So you really didn't lose to the Vietminh entirely....

Speaking of DPB... It's funny to see how 46-58 French politics look like today's Japan...

New governement every other, shift toward far right and imperialism

Between 1946 and 1958 there were no less than 24 separate ministries. The president retained relatively little real executive power, and manoeverings among various radical and socialist groups in the Assembly led to the government being repeatedly overthrown. Governments were so short lived that they achieved little, and the politics of the 4th Republic began to show the same characteristics of the 3rd Republic. Endlessly frustrated by the devisiveness of the Fourth Republic, de Gaulle famously asked][66][/URL]
The public showed their frustration with a marked shift of support towards the extreme right, particularly the Poujadists, a far right party who championed the cause of shopkeepers, farmers and other small businesses who were concerned at increased taxes and price controls brought in to try to curb inflation. Led by Pierre Poujade, the party were anti semitic, anti American and imperialist,[67] but won 2.6 million votes in 1956, giving them 52 seats.

Got plans Sunday but perhaps at some other time. I live a stone's throw from Yoyogi Park, and will say that it's disappointingly green still. I'm hoping for some red next week, before I leave the country for a while... basically missing the most photogenic time of Fall.

Well, those plucky li'l phuckers defeated the Chinese in 1979-80 - gotta give them that! Japan should be so lucky.

In any case, Coligny could take a broader historical perspective! Take a Heart of Darkness cruise up the Mekong and go see the killing fields of Kampuchea, where Chomsky's hero Pol Pot and his posse committed the 20th century's last Great Genocide. Pol Pot was the first to admit to say that la Terreur inspired by the great French Revolutionary butchers of yore, Robespierre, Danton, Marat, et al.

-catone

-just like Hitler and Mussolini were inspired by that inventor of the modern fascist police state, Napoleon

-some would argue that Rwanda was the 20th century's last great genocide. There were French fingerprints all over that, too!

-those darn frogs!
"If there's a river, we'll dam it, and if there's a tree, we'll ram it - 'cause we Japanese are talkin' progress!"
