All we can say that it was either Ryan Taku or Steve.

Hey GuyJean did you go after all?

I took your advice on the Chicken Burrito (Good Call!) and sampled some Redhook India Pale Ale (brewed in Washington?!) too..

Didnt get to see all the shorts but (if you or anyone else saw them) I loved that one with the moustaches drawn onto various people including the konbini staff and the one with the "Salary Man" and his missus Miho trying her best to make babies, and then he loses his job and goes crazy; returning home with jibberish about losing his penis and proceeds to have meetings and after-work izakaya sessions with his wife role-playing and dressed up as a co-worker in their livingroom...

They mostly seemed to be quite topical;
there was that French-language one about a J-High-School students` suicide - kinda morbid - but visually poetic and beautifully shot..

Saw this kid on my way there - he had been cycling up and down the carriage - thought it was cool - but when i was just about to shoot a few seconds of film his o-baa-chan came to take his Tricycle away from him..

If theres ever a "The Shining" remake in Japan - a kid on a tricycle roaming around empty stations and subway carriages could go along way

Unfortunately, I couldn't make it; had a shoot of my own that lasted til 8..

The film viewings are always pretty good; nice people, good food, stiff drinks, and home-made film clips!.. Can't go wrong with that combination!

I hope to go next time.. Although they always seem to have them on Sundays, which isn't the best day for me..

Anyway, glad you had a good time!

Monday, June 28th - 2004

Postby GuyJean » Thu Jun 24, 2004 5:28 am

Two in a month, says FilmJelly:
We don't know why, but you people keep coming to this thing over and over again, no matter how boring we are.

Theee next filmmarmalade is on the 28th of this month, which is THIS WEEK!!! And it's a Monday. MONDAY-MONDAY. from 8 p.m. as usual.

We've never had two filmmarmalade's in a month and on a Monday...So probably nobody's going to show up.

But it doesn't really matter, coz we're gonna go crazy anyway. Even if it's just me ,you and the old man across the street. It's going to happen.

One of our members is going to bollywood to pursue his career as an umbrella-man, which makes this marmalade special.

Sooooo.... as alwayssss!!! Independent shortfilms from directors living in and out of Tokyo!

Directors will be present in person, although most of them will be locked in cages, giving the viewers a chance to express criticism without the fear of being eaten as a countermeasure to the previous eatings that have been witnessed at filmmarmalade parties.

Straight from Johannesburg, South Africa, our DJ for the night is going to be the man himself Shaneeeeeeeee Berrryyyyyyyyy!!!

Submissions are welcome as always, and we would like to kindly request
you to email us the details including Title, Director, Length, Genre,
and Format (VHS NTSC, MiniDv NTSC, Pal MiniDv) . Max length for submissions is 15-20 minutes, depending on content. filmmarmalade@tokyo.com

And to avoid any technical problems and emotional distress, we have to preview the tapes and so we would need to get the films in advance. You can send them or take them or beam them to the Pink Cow by the 26th of June. The address is:
Filmmarmalade
The Pink Cow, Villa Moderuna, Shibuya-ku, Shibuya 1-3-18, tokyo 150-0002

Deadline for submissions is 26th of June, 20:47.(they should be at the Pink Cow, then.)

All disputes will be handled at the Shibuya Koban.?

Pink cow address and map : http://www.thepinkcow.com

>From Hachiko, go straight to Tower records, turn right at Tower
records, go under the Tunnel to Meiji-Dori. Cross the road touching
only the white parts and go up the hill. Turn left at the third signal and go to the end of the road. Pink Cow is located next to Aoyama Park Tower on the right. Pink Cow tel: 03-3406-5597

Cover charge 500 yen. Bring your friends, foes, both lovers and distant relatives! Excellent food and lots of alcohol available.
Submitting Directors in for freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!
