Silly question - the tradition for girls is body paint in team colours.

Back to topic, I was going to do something low key like go to Dogenzaka Gas Panic and watch it on their crappy projector screen.. but I just remembered that they are temporarily shut down for some violation.

What???

Postby cstaylor » Mon Jun 12, 2006 10:59 pm

Japanese forwards stuff the Australian goalie to make it 1-0! Red cards nowhere in sight, either. :(

I know, but the last 15 minutes of the game was amazing.. A lot of really good work from Japanese defense, every credit to them, a serious amount of shots were made by the aussies, and there was some really good hustle to contend with. I think that Japan's running game might have taken their legs away from them a little too early, they really slowed down towards the end there.

Got anything to say Charles??

I really should end my baiting Charles about here, I am not really patriotic, just I am a little bit at the moment.. It will pass..

Yup, game ends, Australia 3, Japan 1. Looks like Japan just gave up after the first Australian goal, or Hiddink was holding his best players for the last ten minutes of the game. :!:

Oh man, what a day. My GF was watching the Japan-Aus game by herself as I was tied up somewhere else, and they managed to keep 1-1 until the very moment I walked through the door at the 80th minute or so. Then 2 goals by Aus in quick succession. 8-O

Bad omen? :ninja: :ninja4:

Anyway, stuff Japan as they sucked as far as I could see... very very bad defense especially. Congrats Oz! :D

You dont sit back and defend for 45 mins! EVER!

Look at how many teams have done that and lost!

Christ Zico! Tell you're forwards to pass earlier when they have a chance not to piss abotu and then get confused because they can not clearly think for themselves!
will the last one out please turn the light off.....

I've noticed that commentators gave the J goalie too much credit for those direct balls that went straight to his hands. What a pity.

Hey Tsuru, you got there late. You should have seen the whole game, they had the entire suck game in play!

That is why soccer is one of those sports for watching just the sports highlights is sufficiently good enough.

The first free kick where he stretched out that was a good save credit where credit is due!

However, the Japanese were a bunch of pussies that lacked any kind of killer instinct to finish the game off.

I was a little surprised.. Isn't there a 'goalie box' or something in soccer?.. Where you can't enter or touch him?.. I think I remember playing like that when I used to slap around the pitches. ]But, be that as it may, Kawaguchi played a cracking game. If he hadn't been in the nets, it would have been six or seven to a lucky one!
Agreed.. That guy is awesome.
I was a little surprised.. Isn't there a 'goalie box' or something in soccer?.. Where you can't enter or touch him?.. I think I remember playing like that when I used to slap around the pitches. ]As with everything else in soccer: as long as you're going for the ball your pretty much free to do whatever you like, right up to the point where it starts to become dangerous for other players. The box you are referring to is probably the penalty area, where the defending team can get punished with a pentalty shot if they run a player into the ground that has broken through their defenses, and they were clearly not going for the ball. This is also the area of the field where the keeper is allowed to touch the ball with his hands: outside of this he has to play like everybody else.

So you are allowed to rub shoulders with the keeper, as long as you are trying to get your head, chest, legs or feet against the ball.
