Softbank X01T (Toshiba G900) available when?

Does anyone know when (or if) Softbank will finally release there X01T smart Windows Mobile 6 phone? It is the Japanese version of the Toshiba G900.

The Softbank website claims it will be released on the 22 May, 2007, and in the August 2007 Softbank catalogue, it is also shown. Yet, each and every time I walk into a Softbank shop, they never have the phone available, and the sales clerks tell not yet or later, but don't specify any date.

Yes, Softbank does have other smart phones, but this is the only model that has the new Windows Mobile 6 operating system, and with its 800x480 display, it has 5 times the resolution of the other Softbank Windows Mobile smart phones (X01HT & X02HT which only have 320x240 displays). This phone would be perfect for reading web pages, typing small docs, etc. BTW, I need Windows Mobile in order to install work related software only available on that platform.

Since Softbank wants me to sign a 2 year contract to get any SmartPhone, and I don't want to be stuck with the outdated X01HT or X02HT models, I have been waiting for this specific model for more than a month, without any luck.

Since I only know a few Japanese words, I can't get any specifics from the Softbank sales clerks.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Looks like a sweet phone... Very similar looking to the X01 HTc phone though. Considering they've just released the X02 HTc phone recently, I'd expect it out in the next 2-3 months or so. I will be at SoftBank sometime next week, so I'll ask the guys there when they're planning for it's release. The people in the shop tend to always give vague answers like I just did above.

Anyways, I'll let you know.....I'm more worried about the cost of the actual phone. Docomo freakin charges close to 70,000 for the X01 HTc, which I find to be COMPLETELY ridiculous......

I'd jump all over the SoftBank smartphones, but my building doesn't get reception on their phones for some reason!!

Still cheaper than overseas where they used to run somewhere around US$900. They've fallen a bit, but likely not below 70,000. I got mine through Softbank for 40,000 or so.

I was in a Softbank shop today and asked about the Toshiba X01T.

The girl said they were supposed to be available in August but have been delayed. It is definitely not coming out this month. She said perhaps next month, but they still don't know for sure. They don't have any pricing information yet either.
