Charging my keitai from PC's USB slot

Postby Neo-Rio » Mon Jun 16, 2003 12:52 pm

I went down to my local 100yen Daiso and picked up a USB connecter that plugs into the socket on my keitai and charges it.
Not bad for 100 yen.

The problem with it though, is that it only charges with the PC switched on and running....

SO.... what i did was to get this PS/2 mouse port to USB convertor dongle that came with my Microsoft optical mouse, and instead of plugging the USB mouse into the mouse slot, I plugged in the keitai charger instead. Lo and behold, it now charges my keitai with the PC switched off too (just have to make sure that the PC power supply mains is switched on)

Interesting that the conversion dongle works even when the PC power is off.

I have so many dongles hanging off my USB ports that I don't have room for my keitai. But our keitais sit on their chargers and battery life is so good with Japanese phones that I don't usually have a problem with charging. Trust me, I am a very heavy keitai user.

Good information though.. I didn't know that it was possible.
