[/floatl]Riso Kagaku, the manufacturers of Print Gokko have announced once again that they will cease production after 31 years. Mainly used to produce New Year greetings cards and T-shirt designs, the colour printing system was so popular that one third of households in Japan were said to own a machine. The company decided over two years ago to finish producing Print Gokkos because they had been rapidly overtaken by the diffusion of personal computers and colour printers. On top of that, it appears more people are sending email greetings rather than cards to mark special occasions. However, a campaign to "Save Gokko" was launched by overseas fans of the machine which seems to have kept it alive despite barely shifting any units in the shops. This recent announcement seems to be the real end now, however, and Riso Kagaku say that they will stop shipments at the end of June. Existing users will now have to rely on door-to-door salesman and internet sites to pick up ink and spare parts. "Save Gokko" say they will keep fighting.
