A few years back, I saw a Japanese program where they were using this stuff to wrap the support columns on bridges to protect against earthquakes; rather than rebuild a bridge that doesn't pass inspection, just wrap that rascal! :p

It'll probably cost a small fortune to blast proof your bedroom. I can't see this as being cheap and as a consumer, why would I need that kind of protection? Against a wrecking ball?

How about protection from flying exploding 200-liter barrels?

As usual if it's MilSpec version you have to pay the overhead going into R&D (not that big) and also hookers and blow for the generals in charge of the product testing and selection (usually bigger part). When the start mass production price will go down faster than your zipper on a philipin club. They've been selling the same kind of stuff for glass shielding at every shopping mall in japan since decades.

(I blame the movie "pentagon's wars" for my skewed view on the US Army protocol for weapons selection and development, but then again, when I see the V22, F22 or F35, I doubt they were that far from the truth)
