We've also released an iPhone application, but I'm not sure how useful it will be for you guys... unless you manage food expiration for your families.

Is it linked to a shopping list manager ?
Does it have a bar code product scan ? (with multiple BC linkable to a single product lines in case you buy your milk from different brand depending on where you shop that day)

[1] No... but that sounds like a great idea! Any preference?
[2] We don't do barcode scanning for a couple of reasons:
[2.1] The cameras on any iDevice before the 4s are garbage, and are incredibly annoying to use (try RedLaser if you don't believe me)
[2.2] Having a barcode requires you having the item in front of you. By using your voice instead you get the quick lookup that a real barcode scanner provides.

We wanted to release this software as freemium (so users could use the non-speech version for free and then buy a license to use the speech part from within the software), but Nuance doesn't offer that option to developers. We'd have to release two versions... yuck.

On another note, if you want to practice your Japanese pronunciation for food items, this will do it for you. Just make sure to set your system language settings to Japanese.

Thanks! Sometimes it feels over-the-top considering what our competitors' software looks like.
