Corporate-University joint venture to sell an airbagged electric car
Sponichi News | November 16 2012 (goofy Google Translate)
Called the iSAVE YOU, this electric vehicle is covered soft airbag-like panels made to absorb an impact in the event of an accident. Researchers in the University of Hiroshima formed a venture company, Humanix, to sell this new electric three-wheeled vehicle for 790,000 yen ($9,740 USD).
The iSAVE YOU vehicle has a range of 30 miles / 50 km and can be recharged from any regular household electrical outlet.
The head of the development, Professor Tsutomu, says that, "the car will be perfect for our rapidly Aging Society and that there are already many requests for it from the elderly and disabled."
