Freebies

Postby Nagged » Thu Nov 06, 2003 11:31 pm

Here's a couple of freeware goodies that might come in useful.

1. Freelang Dictionary
This is a free dictionary you can download and it comes in several languages. It's a bit basic, (romaji only, no kanji), but it can come in handy. The fact that you can use the same soft for multiple languages is good.

2. IESpell
This a spell check you can use for webmail, forums, etc. Just right click and select Check Spelling. Works on IE based browsers.

Very impressive. I think I'll sign up.

You mentioned a "shameless plug". Are you connected in some way to Enfour?

I know it is shameless but we are really proud of this site. It really has the highest quality of on-line dictionary data IMNSHO. Trust me, I have tested them all extensively.

Plus we are adding some really kewl features all the time. Like an email translation service - registered users can send an email off to us and we send it back translated for you. (It is MT not human translation.)

The grasshopper himself, Taro, says that it has been made the way that mobile sites should be made... Right Taro

OK I will stop now, but I really like what I do.

Cool. Haven't checked out all the features but it appears to outclass Wordtank in some ways. Great job.

It's nice that you can refer to an all-round dictionary as good as this through the convenience of your mobile phone. Also beats the other keitai dictionaries I've seen so far, this is definitely next generation.

I'd recommend it to anyone.

Had fun playing with it at work today. :)

Lot's of stuff included. Might be handy to sneak in your keitai during one of those Japanese proficiency tests.

There are memory limitations between packaged software apps and server based lookup resources. The average PDA app has less than half of the entries of a server based tool and doesn't have the compounds.

But for basic lookups they are fine. I use a PDA dictionary as well.

Just out of interest, which one do you have and how much did it cost you?
