..the Shira browser, a Japanese open source project based on Apple's Safari KHTML rendering engine provided by Apple's Web Kit. I mean, it's still a beta, I downloaded the latest nightly build -- not the designated "stable" version -- and it was only a 1.5 megabyte file. How good could it be?
Really good. First, Shiira is fast. Very fast....
Shiira reminds me a bit of my Toyota Corolla and Camry. They're not fancy, but they get the job done reliably with the elegance of a design that "just works."
Shiira is the Japanese word for dolphin fish (not the mammal 'dolphin'!) or dorado, also known as 'mahi mahi' in Hawaiian. The developer says that the goal of the Shiira Project is to create full-featured web browser a that is better and more useful than Safari. Heck, I like it better than Safari already. I hope that adding extra features won't slow it down. All source code used is publicly available.
Hm..
