Soviet Computers Rule!
...he thing that I find most fascinating about Soviet computers is the fact that, at least here in the United States, for so long the USSR was viewed as the evil empire. In retrospect this was, of course, silly, but the US had to justify building up the military industrial complex somehow! This made Russian computing a total mystery - they had to have computers, certainly, but maybe the KGB forbade home computers and punished those who had them? Maybe Soviets didn't have PCs?
Now that we're all friends, Soviet computers can't be a mystery, so it's extremely interesting to me to see what Soviet people were using. Hence my collection....

China's supercomputer has realized great leap both in technology and application as the super server Dawning4000A with a peak performance of 11 trillion floating point operations per second (TFlops) passed appraisal on June 29.
The supercomputer also becomes China's most advanced commercial supercomputer. After the United States, Japan, China becomes the third country to conquer the development and application of 10-TFlops supercomputer.
Dawning4000A stands at the tenth, the best China has ever done with international recognition, at the global high-performance computer rankings published on June 22.

Dawning4000A is a 10Tflops Linux Cluster, which is under development by the National Research Center for Intelligent Computing Systems (NCIC) and Dawning Corporation. It is a grid-enabling high performance computer, and will be used as the capability power station of the China National Grid (CNGrid).
