How to add auto download after purchase to website?

Postby AlbertSiegel » Thu Aug 12, 2004 1:17 am

I am helping my friend with her website and I am stuck at the very end of my project. I need to set it up so that when someone pays for her book (word document/PDF file), they can download it automaticly.

What I need to do is make sure that it cannot be downloaded till it is paid for.

Does anyone have any ideas on what I can do?

you might have to pay but some options are free:

or this:

Another consideration:

That is more to protect the content from being pirated.

You might also want to consider a DRM solution if you are worried about piracy.

Thanks a billion! I will look into these. My friend does not mind if there is a fee. She just wants something safe that works.

Just make sure that if their browser crashes immediately after or whatever they can still download. For instance, a download link good for 24 hours sent to an email address.

We've been using e-sellerate for a few months now and it would be suitable for what your trying to do as well. It handles all the SSL billing on their end, so when users CC payment is transferred they get a download link. It was intended to selling software.. but .pdf files would work fine as well. I'd say its worth a look if you haven't made a choice yet..?!?
