Nagoya subways to disable cell phone serviceYomiuri Shimbun Aug 12
Passengers on the Nagoya subway system will soon no longer be able to use their cell phones in trains or on platforms as relay stations in the system's tunnels are being relocated to protect people fitted with pacemakers.
The move is the first attempt in the nation to protect pacemaker users from radio waves transmitted by cell phones.

Yeah, but are there relays in the tunnels to begin with? If so, they sure as heck don't work for my phone. (platforms are fine of course, but that's true of every subway line in the area, isn't it?)

Yep. Azamino or Eda station. The signal is spotty from Yogi to downtown....but I almost NEVER use my keitai (5 times in 3 months)
