If they come out with a phone in partnership with motorola, I'm buying that phone (assuming there's a heavy apple brand hand on the device, not just a software addition).

About the rumors of a $500 mac (see thinksecret.com); I don't know, Steve Jobs has always seem pretty damn committed to keeping the prices high even in the face of low market share. It seems to me that if there was any hint of him wavering on prices, we would have seen the iPod mini released at a lower price. But even that tiny thing is relatively expensive. I would like to think Jobs has softened his position on pricing, but it's very hard for me to believe.

For sure we'll see something special for the GarageBand. Either a breakout box, or some equally cool enhancement.

As for Tiger, bleh, I would rather they just focus on Panther a while longer. These updates are getting damned expensive. Right now I've got one machine running Jaguar and one running Panther. I can see the differences, but they aren't big enough for me to keep shelling out dough like that.

I dunno, I've seen pics of new phones with those mini-hard disks, but they're big bulky things like a PDA, not sleek Apple industrial design. And I'm not sure it would be a good idea to divert drives from iPods into a new product when they're already constrained. So maybe you'll just get a Motorola Razor that can hold about 5 songs in RAM, and the ability to buy new ones with iTunes, or maybe move songs you've purchased from your home Mac easily.

Yeah, I've heard this problem referred to by the colorful term "pissing in the soup," you don't want one profitable division in your company to be cannibalized by another less profitable division. But it's been the cause of major business errors, like for example, IBM didn't want to support the PC because they thought it would take big buck sales from other divisions (like their huge Displaywriter word processors, or even mainframes) and turn them into little PC sales. Hmm.. come to think of it, maybe IBM was right in the long run, The Register is just reporting the details of the IBM PC division sale to Lenovo, they say IBM's financials show the PC division lost almost 1 Billion dollars over the last 4 years, it wasn't profitable.
So that leaves Apple as the only computer company that is making a real profit, and increasing profits quarterly.

Well, you'll probably get that wish, I don't think Tiger's ready yet. But the rumor mill is working overtime, here's a list of what the rumormongers think will ship, and the list is growing:
Speed bumps across the line
headless iMac
iWork office suite
Keynote 2 + some unknown Keynote accessories
"Asteroid" audio breakout box
iLife 5
Jam Pack 4
GarageBand 2
Web Objects update
TiVo-ish media center device
iTunes for Moto Cel Phones

I think I missed a few, and there are might be even more goodies coming that nobody's leaked yet. If we only get half the rumored goods, this upcoming Stevenote could be the biggest ever.

Why would the great Soviet Supreme play with simple ball? I make enemies of the party dodge bullets!

I have posted this last year, but is still good post.

Why buy Apple computer from capitalist pig when you can own the Soviet Union's best PC! This PC can process over 50 mega task per soviet second. It even looks better than Apple aluminium PC! The CCCP-PC is made from Soviet grade stainless steel. At only a few months allowance, this PC can be yours! Please ask your local party member for proper forms to attain CCCP-PC.

Ah, xSan shipped, so I'm 1 for 1. I said xSan would ship but it wasn't likely to be announced at the show since it's more of a developer/enterprise product. xServe also got speed bumped, I'll wait until we see other speed bumps before declaring myself 2 for 2.

And BTW, yeah, that "1954" photo is well-known to be a hoax. The 1970s DecWriter terminal was the dead giveaway, if not the clumsy TV in the upper corner.
