No Nexus info on docomo's English site as of yet, but I expect something will pop up soon.
docomo's Japanese Galaxy Nexus page.

Pros
  1. Android 4.0 aka Ice Cream Sandwich
  2. Has Wi-Fi tethering
  3. Has Bluetooth (doesn't say if it's ver. 4.0 or not)
Cons
  1. No support for Xi (FOMA only)
  2. No OneSeg TV (no big loss)
  3. Not waterproof (if you're dumb enough to use it in the bath, your loss)
  4. No IR sensor (who cares)
  5. No docomo Palette UI (that's a relief)
  6. Rear camera is 5MP (not 8MP like the other Galaxy)
And a few goodies from Dan Morrill on the Google Android team (not mentioned in the announcement):
  • Disabling Apps
ICS adds the ability to disable an app outright.
  • Camera Controls
The camera controls have been redesigned and are easier to find and mess around with.
  • Improved Download Manager
It looks better and is easier to find and use, and to see and clear any downloads you might have.
  • Support for Encryption for Phones
Honeycomb added full-device encryption, but ICS brings it to phones.
  • Audio Effects
There's a new audio effects API.

Seriously !? nothing else ?

Because aside from #1 who might be cool (albeit quite "expected").

#2 and #3 are like aluminum casing or color screen (or 4 wheels with rubber tires on a new car)... not having them is a deal breaker... having them is just... normal...

Feels as exciting as the Ericson phone pre sony buyout... the A1018 main feature was the choice of color faceplate... either black or dark navy blue... I'm still wondering what kind of braindamaged marketting moron came up with that idea... and how many more imbeciles followed behind to approve it...

That was just my initial impression of the basic specs.
A few more whizbang features are:
  • 4G (but apparently not Xi compatible on docomo?)
  • Face Unlock (gimmick)
  • Android Beam ("beam" contacts etc. via NFC, not IR to other NFC phones)
  • 4.65" 720p Super AMOLED display (battery life? hmm) - one of the first phones with 1280 x 720 resolution, another is the Droid Razr also announced today
  • LED for notifications below the screen, have yet to see a smartphone with this feature, about time
Vlad from "The Verge" does a hands on with the Nexus.
[ythq]NTp363GACjs[/ythq]

The docomo GALAXY S II LTE SC-03D announced yesterday has a slightly lower screen res, both front and back cams are higher res, and it will run on docomo's Xi network (for those not happy with the paltry speeds of FOMA) - but it has Android 2.3* (Gingerbread).
*The Google guys say that phones running Android 2.3x can also run 4.0, but it's up to the carrier to upgrade (without rooting etc. yourself).

An apparently mute journalist from itMedia does a few quick hands on vids with the GALAXY S II LTE (why the itMedia guys never narrate their videos is beyond me).

I think the Nexus' Super AMOLED screen operating at 720p native resolution in Ice Cream Sandwich is definitely something noteworthy and is perhaps the phone's most attractive feature, IMHO.

AU's had one with this for awhile thought the phone itself is already a dinosaur.

Don't know for the galaxy, but for IOs devices it's not interface lag. It's slow execution.

Interface lag: the device need some time to register and respond to an input (text selection, scrolling), the device feels like not giving a fuck aboot your input, usually leading to multiple repetitive attempt at input from the user and frustration.

Slow execution, the device register the command, start but take long to complete it. Safari mobile on heavy sites scroll fast as anywhere else, but it take time to replace the white and gray mosaic with actual content. The interface is snappy and reactive, it just take time to complete the loading.

BigInJapan wrote:I noticed that in the article too, however, if you read the comments (which include existing Android users and iOS users), it seems that the perceived lag might not be as great as the writer is implying.
I hope you didn't waste much of your time reading the comments. I mean reading comments by what's mainly a bunch of idiots on a piece of equipment that you can't even buy yet when there are a few new posts in the J-Babe thread, that would be a waste of time.

It looks like Samsung's trying to make themselves a little bit safer from lawsuits with this phone though.

You're right.

And Android devices suffer from both interface lag and slow execution.

Nope, just searched for "lag" and noticed lots of comments. Also a flame war which is probably bound to occur when "fandroids" and "fanboys" get their panties bunched up about something that isn't even on sale yet.

i wonder if the SII battery life is any better, because my S1 makes me want to join the narita exp suicide thread in the wrong kind of way

serious though - whats the wimax part of the SII, does that mean its also a mobile wireless hub like a wimax? is that the same as tethering?

WiMax part is the 4G part that claims net speeds of up to 40mbs....but in reality will get you about 10~15 with good reception. Tethering most definitely but you'll have to ask the AU rep how or if they bill you for that.

The guy that wrote the ASCII.jp review article above mentions that he was glad of the larger battery as it should last longer.
S = 1500 mAh, S2 = 1650 mAh, S2 WiMAX = 1850 mAh (makes my 3GS's 1219 mAh battery look kinda weak...)

Galaxy S II WiMAX speed test results (tethering)

Postby BigInJapan » Wed Jan 25, 2012 8:31 pm

Gigazine.net has posted a detailed list of speed test results with the Galaxy S II WiMAX (tests performed in Osaka).

Image

Black text at the top is two place names within Osaka (Namba & Umeda).
Blue columns are download, and red columns are upload speeds.
These are averaged results of all the results on this page.

Tethering (3rd row in each section) is faster, and the journalist conjectures that this is due to the attached computer being able to better utilize the signal. He figures that the smartphone's hardware is not up to fully utilizing the signal, resulting in slower speeds on the device itself.

That is really great to hear. Have you tried its built-in anal stimulation feature? I would be happy to explain how to try it.
