Get Trillian. It handlews multiple IM formats

I totally missed that part of emperor's comment!

Yeah, Trillian is awesome. I use it for ICQ, MSN, and Yahoo. Started out with ICQ eons ago (low 6-digit number), but over time have had to add MSN and Yahoo accounts. Multiple clients suck!

The only problem with Trillian is that it doesn't seem to work with Yahoo Japan accounts. Guess the servers or ports are different. Very odd. And of course no Skype support.

Another great thing about Trillian is you can have multiple accounts in the same service logged in at the same time. So I can have one MSN account for consulting clients and another for friends, and can have one of them logged in or both of them, depending on time and place.

I knew about Trillian; nice program. I actually use 'AdiumX' on my ibook.
What I meant was: you cant just open a yahoo a/c and talk to someone on msn and vice versa - maybe things will have been cleaned up in a few years and well all have numbers instead of names/email addresses and can communicate from any platform to any platform.

DIE SONY DIE!
The Sony "Walkman Bean" iPod Killer is Discontinued
osViews | Feb 14, 2006 - 03:40 AM
Sony After less than four months on the market ---and despite the oft-trumpeted, yet obviously meaningless built-in FM tuner --4 Sony's Walkman Bean has been cooked by boiling Apple iPod sales.
Debuting in October 2005, Sony had high hopes for the kidney-shaped, flash-based 512MB (US$130, since cut to around $110) and 1GB ($180, since cut to around $140) Walkman Beans. Alas, Sony's hopes have been dashed in what just might be record time. "Yesterday, the company confirmed that it will be discontinued in April...

Why your MP3 player is already out of date
The Independent, 14 February 2006
After less than six months on the market, Sony's Walkman Bean is to be discontinued - a victim of the digital revolution and the fashion for ruthlessly upgrading.

What an odd-looking device. Pray, what does Sony smoke, and where can I get some?

iPod Takes Japan By Storm
Spend any time hanging around Tokyo's bustling Shibuya retail and fashion conclave, and you will doubtless see electronic shops galore hawking MP3 players such as Sony's (SNE ) Walkman, Toshiba's Gigabeat, and the Panasonic D-Snap brand. Yet a determined young couple on hand recently -- Megumi Mizuno, 22, and Takaaki Tokuyoshi, 17 -- bypassed them all, making a straight shot to the Apple (AAPL ) outlet. Why? They've been infected by the near-global iPod obsession.

If anything kills the iPod's dominance in Japan, it will be racism and croneyism by the big names to prevent Apple's access to J-Pop.
I will not abide ignorant intolerance just for the sake of getting along.
