Do people really use smartphones to look at pr0n?

But srsly, every other day I look at these glittering devices which connect magically to a near-instantaneous global grid of (almost) free stuffz and think to myself "feck, we really are living in the future".

Ever get stuck in a J-hotel without your laptop?

That being said, I am really starting to consider a new tablet. My iPad (original with 3G) is just not up to even browsing anymore. Only seem to use it for travel (navigation) and as a kindle reader but while it works for those tasks well enough, it's pretty damn heavy for either situation. Starting to think about Android tablets now...maybe even a Win8 tab/notebook contraption.

Was watching 30 Nights Of Paranormal Activity With The Devil Inside The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo...

Then the teenage girl getting horny in her bedroom say to Abraham Lincoln vampire hunter:

"wait I didn't show you my Apple product placement"

And then...

This happens...

Ok people. iPhone 5. yay or nay?
i'm about to relegate my 4 to being my secondary phone and trying to decide on a 4S or the leap to 5. benefit to a 4S would be that i don't have to carry a different type of cable around.

have heard both good and bad about the 5.

go!

I don't think this has been mentioned here yet (but sorry if I missed it).

As of today (I think), the built-in Apple maps for iOS 6 have been seriously upgraded for Japan. As far as I can see, the map labels, which were previously random as far as I can tell, have been replaced with the actual names of the actual locations underneath them. Duplicates and weird locations of landmarks are gone. Even the famous Pachinko Gundam Eki is gone, sadly. Most likely very few people will notice, as everybody switched over to the Google Maps app long ago.

But this info was making the rounds, so I tried the Apple maps for the first time in a few months, and was quite surprised.

I have to agree! I have been using the google maps, since it came out. I simply refuse to go back to Apple maps. Truly sad!

That's great and I checked and it seems right. The search is the big one for me. I was in Sakai, Osaka when I first upgraded to iOS6 and I typed in 刃物 (knives) and got 1 or 2 results. Sakai has a 1500 year history of making knives and is one of the most famous knife regions in all of Japan... Lol I typed it into the google web app and got like 30 results. I'll give apple's another shot though over time I guess.

All the porn you'll ever need that's free and iPhone compatible.

I just got the iPhone 5 a couple weeks ago. My 3gs had a broken mute switch and it was SLOW and was crashing a lot. I didn't realize how slow until I got my new phone.

Bloomberg wrote:Apple Seeks to Trademark ‘IWatch’ in Japan for Devices

Apple Inc. (AAPL), the world’s most valuable technology company, is seeking a trademark for “iWatch” in Japan as rival Samsung Electronics Co. readies its own wearable smartphone device.

The maker of iPhones is seeking protection for the name which is categorized as being for products including a handheld computer or watch device, according to a June 3 filing with the Japan Patent Office that was made public last week. Takashi Takebayashi, a Tokyo-based spokesman for Apple, didn’t respond to a message left at his office seeking comment on the application.

So let me guess, 500 usd and have to charge every night, need to load itunes to set the time... And with a special 2000 usd option head unit can display the hours and minutes on your Audi nav screen ? (Display of seconds available with the next ios8 update who will also need the iwatch 2 and a different connector to a different head unit only for the next gen-year Audi lineup)

Maybe they could try to fix the antenna reception issues on the iphone one day...

Apple, what happend to your "it just work" philosophy ? When did it became "upgrade and fuck you" ?

http://www.cbc.ca/m/touch/news/story/20 ... death.html

Apple Inc is investigating an accident in which a Chinese woman was killed by an electric shock when answering a call on her iPhone 5 while it was charging, the U.S. technology company said on Monday.

Last Thursday, Ma Ailun, a 23-year-old woman from China's western Xinjiang region and a flight attendant with China Southern Airlines, was electrocuted when she took a call on the charging mobile telephone, the official Xinhua news agency quoted police as saying on Sunday.

"We are deeply saddened to learn of this tragic incident and offer our condolences to the Ma family. We will fully investigate and cooperate with authorities in this matter," Apple said in an e-mail.

Apple declined to comment on details, such as whether this was an isolated case.

Ma's sister tweeted on Sina's microblog saying that Ma collapsed and died after using her charging iPhone 5 and urged users to be careful, a message that went viral on the site.

In April, Apple apologised to Chinese consumers and altered iPhone warranty policies in its second-biggest market after its after-sales service suffered more more than two weeks of condemnation by the state-run media.

Docomo iPhone?

Postby BigInJapan » Fri Sep 06, 2013 11:25 am

Apparently there has been some noise in the Japanese media recently about leaks that Docomo will be finally be selling the iPhone soon. Docomo issued the following official notice of denial saying that they did not make this announcement - and that there are no official facts that need to be disclosed at present.
Sounds like a fancy way of saying that they have nothing to say right now, but Docomo is not saying that they will not sell the iPhone.

I do believe that the "leaks" were actually deliberately done from "inside" DoCoMo to speed the negotiations along. They have used these tactics before.

But Apple do not like leaks!! It may backfire on them.
