The Japanese vehicle maker Honda has designed a dog-friendly car. The WOW concept, which stands for "Wonderful Openhearted Wagon", is an exhibition model not intended for commercial sale that will be exhibited at a Tokyo car show this month. It was shown to the press in Wako, Japan, this week.
A crate for dogs, which is stored in the glovebox, allows owners to "interact" with their pets while driving. A bigger crate pops up from the floor in the back seat area and can be folded back into the floor when it is not needed. The largest dogs can be buckled to the floor with a special seatbelt.
The big danger for pets riding in cars is that they can be thrown out during a crash. About a fifth of Japanese households are thought to have dogs, and Honda says there is a growing demand for vehicles that cater to man's best friend.
The WOW comes with removable, washable, roll-out flooring [K: so it's perfect for FGs too] and has wide sliding doors to keep dogs happy.
"We created this vehicle from the point of view of a dog but it turned out to be a gentler vehicle for the elderly, children and other family members," said a designer at Honda, Katsuhito Nakamura.

However, I am a little worried about the unconventional airbag ...
