Cheap and Simple Portable MP3 Player from Evergreen
AkibaLive: Monday, April 10, 2006
Evergreen (Japan) released its DN-2000 Black, portable MP3 player on April 7th. The player has no built-in memory, but has an SD card slot so the user can select how much memory to put into it, which is why it's only going for 999 yen....Uses a single AAA battery that yields 5 hours of playback time. Outer dimensions are 58x60x13mm with a weight of 30 grams. ....more....

The way I read the specs, you just format the SD card for the Windows file system and fill it with MP3s. I've got pile of useless small-capacity SD cards from dead keitai and this seems a great way to utilize them. SD cards from digital cameras could be reused in the same way.
