Recommendation: File Size and Dimensions of Cell Phone Graphics

Postby mr. sparkle » Wed Jul 05, 2006 6:12 pm

I want to send photos to my friend's cell phone, and often she complains that she didn't see it because I think it's too large. She's in the Tokyo area.

What do ya'll recommend as far as file size and pixel dimensions?

Not sure how current this is as the DOCOMO English pages are always last to be updated. But this site should help.

You didn't mention what handset or carrier she is with. But once you have that you can easily look at the carriers English page to get the phone specs.

Hope this helps Sparkle-sama!!

p.s. What are you sending her photos of that are of such a LARGE size??? ;)

Thanks for the help and the link GG. I checked out the site and it appears that larger 500 KB images are acceptable these days for iMode. That's pretty good size. This image is only 4 KB - hey, at least it'll get through.

I'm not sure which phone she has. It's her tanjoubi and I can't get ahold of her by cell. So I want to send her a happy b-day graphic. The Apple iCards simply don't work on cell phones. I know. I've tried. They're too big.

I'll ask her what kind of phone she has. You know, it's funny. She doesn't have a computer at home at ALL. She does everything over the cell phone. Do you think that it's common for a Japanese to not have a PC? I don't know if it's too expensive, complicated or if she just doesn't have room for one. I think it's a bit weird that she doesn't have a PC, especially with a teenaged son in the house (er, mansion).

That would be my beer gut. Heh heh. Naw, I'm attaching the image. Man it looks bad, but at least I know she'll get it.

This is fairly common - space, cost and many other factors but basically for the average person, keitais are so fucking fantastic that you do not need a full computer at home. But then I love keitais!! :)

I could go on and on but i-mode is a japanese success story due to the amount of time people spend on the trains and the relatively low penetration of home PC use.
