Buying macs in Japan

Postby Neo-Rio » Wed May 02, 2007 10:35 am

Just a quick question:-

If I bought a Mac in Japan, could I make MacOS go exclusively into English?
I hear that there are even US keyboard models available over here too.

I'm pretty sure it's possible, but some confirmation from the experts would be nice.

It's very easy to switch between multiple languages.
A jis keyboard is also convenient, but not altogether necessary.

You should`nt have any problems, the add-on "Universal software" that mac exclusively sells will usually allow you to switch to multiple languages. Also lot of the pre-installed software will allow you to switch back and forth.
Remember: when you buy a new mac and take it out of the box and start it up, the "default" will be in english.

Hope this helps you out.

Good Luck!

Yep you can switch it to whatever language you want.

Also you can request an interntaional/US keyoboard when you buy and they will fix it all up.

Easy stuff.

Actually, a mac comes with no preset default language. When you boot a new Mac, he first thing the Setup Manager asks is to pick a default language.
