How long until the new iPhone is released?

Postby Billy » Wed May 20, 2009 6:45 am

I almost got an iPhone yesterday... but I know I should wait until the new one comes out. Does anyone have the scoop on when that might be? The guy in Softbank didn't have a clue... but he tried to tell me that I 'might' be able to change it for a new one once they are released. Yeah, sure.

This is a must when thinking about buying apple stuff, has been very helpful for me in the past.

So yea the iphone is over due for an update

There is usually an event in July, January or August.

In the past they let you exchange for a new one if you bought it like that week.

I'm pretty sure it will be out sometime in the summer.

I'm actually more looking forward to Google's Android based phones, more than the iPhone. That should be out at around about the same time.

The android is interesting but the batty life is crap. I'm sure there are ways to keep this down by not running programs in the background, but this is like the only advantage it has on the non-jailbroken iPhones.
Also are so many apps and games for the iPhone, no idea what the android's app selection looks like (no were near the number of iphone apps and games I'm sure).

As Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference approaches (June 8-12), the rumours are starting to snowball.
Best bet would be to hold off until then, as a new iPhone will most likely be announced.
The latest rumour (on TUAW etc.) is an on-sale date of July 17.

Thanks for the info. I'll wait for the release... but I'm getting anxious :)

I had an android phone in the US when they first came out. I wasn't impressed at all and went back to the Blackberry. The android phone was probably the worst phone I've ever had... and I've been around the block.

A phone is definitely coming out, since there is not other reason for them to wait to release the new iPhone firmware v3.

Not in Japan (United States, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, and the UK)...one week later in six unnamed countries, and in August in 80 other countries.
