I wonder what that would do to people with pacemakers. So much for the retard silver seats for the un-ables.

Naw, they'll just put a metal back on the seats and force pin the old codgers to the wall like refrig stickies in between the stations. Then when they reverse the motor poles, it'll fire 'em out the door like a sixshooter...

Looks dodgy to me. I don't know much - but something tells me the paper clips wouldn't act this way if there was a magnetic field leak.

Could be wrong - but I've got a hunch this is fake.
I broke a mirror this morning, which means I should be getting 7 years of bad luck - but my lawyer says he can get me 5.

Its certainly possible that its a fake, as all one would need to do to stage it is hold a magnet above the view of the camera. However, I'd just take it as a cool video and not jump to any conclusions. I would certainly not want it to tarnish the image of MagLev technology as it has proven to work well, in the few places where its actually being used, and it would be nice to see more of these high speed and smooth/quiet trains built.

If that was the case, the fieldlines of the magnet being held above the camera would converge the other way.

This is definitely real.

You know, I think Japan is way too easy on paper clips. They need to stop them riding the trains all day, dancing and lying about, getting in the way of fare-paying passengers, and make them get out in the real world and get jobs! No more free rides for paper clips!
