Advice site

[Screwed-down Hairdo]

Does anybody know of a really good place to go for advice about website problems for people such as myself who are absolute tech retards?
(I have fundamentally no idea of PHP and have made a blog being badly exploited by spammers and shite....I have received lists of commands from my host on how to fix it, but it's totally incomprehensible to me...)
I'd be grateful for any advice you can offer.

FYI when you create a new thread, if you want to make sure it does not go to the top page, take a look at the section where you can choose an icon for the thread. You should see a choice called "not news". If you select that, your post will stay off the front page.

That being said, I am totally useless in terms of answering your original question. Anybody?

SDH, I'm not a PHP expert (I've done a lot of regular HTML/CSS web design over the years though) but I have played around with a few blog tools in the past.
I think I recall your blog title from when it was in your sig, so I took a look at it, and if it's you (featuring bouncing animals at the moment), then you're using Wordpress.
If that's the case, take a look at this Wordpress site for combating comment SPAM.

Thanks BIJ! (Don't you like bouncing Christmas kangaroos?) It was bloody good of you! I've been through a couple of the WordPress sites and it's basically all over my head. I'm gonna ring them and beg for help tomorrow (if you can't get it Christmas Day, when will you?). They're generally tremendous and I generally freak myself out. My big problem is having using my own theme generator, which makes the themes different to standards, but once we sort it out, it generally gets fixed.
