Which OS? If it's under Windows try changing your keyboard layout in the regional settings.

Listen up. You have two choices. A. Beaten then caught. Or B. Caught then beaten. -Kuga Kohtarou, Shikigami no Shiro II

p.s., for what it's worth, it's watashi ha, not watashi wa.

I bought a Sony Viao noteboke from the Sony store in Woodbury Commons in New York and the thing turned Japanese on me. All the pop up windows appear in Japanese. I put up with it because I understand it but imagine the regular Joe who has no clue about Japanese what they must be thinking.

Please help!

If your layout is now that of a Japanese keyboard (ie the quote key is over the #2) then you have installed a Japanese keyboard driver. Go into Windows' device manager and change the keyboard driver to the correct one for your keyboard.

Once that is done you will have the proper layout again. You can then adjust the IME settings switch back to Romaji input instead of Kana input. Just ask if you need some pointers with that too.

Press Alt+Shift until your language indicator switches to English.

That won't help if the keyboard's layout is wrong (as shown in his image.) Keyboard layout is determined by the driver, not the language settings.
