Setting up a new apartment and I have no clue on which plugs I need to get the TV and DVD sorted.

In the wall it seems there is a white and a yellow co-ax. So I need two cables?

White means the building's TV aerial. Yellow is odd, but a logical guess is it that would be cable TV (which generally is left on with a few free channels). Take a keitai pic, and ask your neighbors, building's superintendent or a big denki store.

Alternatively, borrow a coax cable(s) from work or from your DVD player setup and plug it into your TV to see what happens.

Might be one plug for cable/sat and one for roof antenna. Or an old school uhf/vhf split.

If the tv have 2 antenna input one might be labelled bs/cs...

Can't help much more than saying... Plug and pray... I'd go with both at the same time, if the tv was previously set for your region she will find her channel association. If there is nothing, invert the plugs. If there is still nathing you are good for an autoscan, and maybe another cable crossing.
Just be sure the TV can receive digital broadcast. If not, you just have a screen or a paperweight...

Good point raising questions, it's a 50/75ohm antenna coax (the center hole /connector really small like a big sewing needle) or an audio / cinch coax with center pin/hole around 3 mm in diameter like a knitting needle ?

Be sure to dig out your TV's manual or download the documentation. The system setup drawings and photo showing the the various methods of connection will be a big help.

Ok... so this is sorta a "TV setup" question... but i just didn't want to make a seperate thread a bout it.

I have 2 dell 15 inch monitors (dvi and vga input)
one for my computer and i want to use the other for my PS3 (only has HDMI and RCA)

Where can I get a HDMI to DVI converter that has an audio line out from the HDMI that I can plug into speakers?

Or is it possible to get a card for my desktop that has HDMI in and I can just put it out to another monitor?
I have a Dell Precision T3400, 4GB RAM, and an OK Nvidia card (dvi and vga out)

The TV worked after I turned around the card... the person I got it from had the card in backwards - no wonder it didn't work. I was able to download the manual from the manufacturers site and it was easy to set up. Still working on the damned DVD player which looks like it is dead as it won't even turn on and light up. Hence I think I need to ditch it and get a new one.

Good idea and very cheap that way! I only need a HDMI /dvi converter.

Lets hope i have the ps3 rca cable...

I have a inherited a Sony Playstation cable. It is out for Sony and in wtih the red, yellow, white AV cables.

It is yours if you want it.

Side note, I have a huge box of random cables so if anybody is needing them, just me a line and come over and see if there is anything you want. Lots of varieties of AV cables.

I have a ROOM of random cables so if anybody is needing them...

Pretty sure I even still have some plaintalk mics, the hockey puck one before, minidin serial cables and SCSI 25-50...

(ADB don't count, it's just rebadged SVideo anyway...)
