Depends on your settings... once you leave the country, Softbank has nothing to do with it. It is up to you to get the networks that are available.

Yea... That's why with a softbank IPhone with carrier selection set to auto, we somehow expect to be able to use the softbank network when we are in japan... And were surprised to have perfect coverage from the local carrier in a foreign country even on cliff/seaside roads where you need to drive 30 minutes before seing a single building...

Incredible eh ?

That is only if you remembered to pre-book it before you go. Sounds like Coligny didn't set things up before he left.

iPhones - especially if you are using google maps etc - are huge packet hogs.

Doesn't matter: Coligny is not the one paying.

GG, I think you may be misunderstanding. That is understandable because the OP does not make any effort to be clear about things, but I think he might be complaining about not being able to access the Softbank network after returning from overseas.

Then again, I may be misunderstanding. I find it hard to tell.

I think Waggers is right. But given my inability to understand the period mark premise (or argument), I wouldn't listen to me.
It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

Of course Pumpkin, always assume Coligny is an imbecile and never plans ahead... It's the surest way to feel superior on the cheap... I'll try to write slower so you and Waldorf can understand mo'betta next time...

To be honest, I don't spend too much time trying to figure out the cryptic rantings of the OP so it is more than likely I am mistaken. Yes reading it again, it might be possible that he is back and he can't get Softbank service. I dunno - perhaps a reboot might be in order but hey, what the fuck do I know?

Please do. Efforts in that field will be appreciated by all. We do enjoy your inventive expressions but not at the cost of making it difficult to understand where your problem is.

Just when you thought it couldn't go lower...

1 week in Vietnam,.

For the duration of 1 week in the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, former french colony of Indochina acquired under Napoleon the third.

even in the sticks me Julie always got at least 3 bars of Vietnam Telecom carrier.

Despite having travelled and temporary settled in remote locations of previously mentioned geographical location. The reception afforded by the local mobile phone carrier have always been of a minimum of 3 bars out of 5.

Landed in centrair...

After returning in Aichi through the airport of Chubu Centrair, shortened to 'centrair' which is its commonly used name. You people fluent in Japanjingo are used to these shortenings no ?

No service eversince..

The same phone who was perfectly fine in vietnam is back to its random behaviour of listing no service available be it in centrair or back home.

Bad luck cst is gone shitting on other carpets, the circle jerking would have been near perfect... Now that you once again proved your immense potential at group stupidity, can you show us another trick ? Or you are 1 shared trick ponies ? Also don't forget to tell me again what I should do during my trips or that my time on the shaky island should be only equally used for studying the language and the past-present-and future immigration laws... Then compare me to CJ because it's not stupid enough until someone push it to 11...

Re: Softbank and IPhone 4s

Postby nikoneko » Fri Nov 08, 2013 11:40 pm

In the interests of turning this thread into something that makes any sense at all. I am doing exactly this, Softbank with an iPhone 4s and going to the US for a couple weeks later this month. I am web researching things out at the moment on a ton of things, brain tired, so my basic plan is to go to the Softbank office and tell them what I am doing and ask how to get email and make calls and etc at a reasonable rate. Anybody got any quicky advice otherwise?

In my infinite planning I do not ahem intend to get there and then search for a signal and then get bitchy and post about it longwindedly on an obscure internet website. Not that anybody would do that of course..

Coligny, if you want to get your phone working again, there is only one thing you can do: get your ass on a plane again and fly back to 'Nam...

I understood that you meant coverage was better in Vietnam than here. However every single person in Japan knows that Softbank's coverage sucks and it is even more boring tripe fodder than you normally post. I instead tried to see if anybody had any quick one offs on things to look for for somebody actually trying to plan a trip and who needs coverage from someone who speaks the language semi-coherently and can read and stuff and wants it done as soon as possible. I'm not really in the mood to complain lately I just move and work. I'm Kansai bitch! Wanna play more?

(Said with a smile lol I'm in a pretty good mood haha. Bitch! ;) )

Hang on so this didn't just start suddenly after coming back from Vietnam, but was just the continuation of coverage issues with Softbank from before, maybe even from the beginning? And the fact that the coverage in Vietnam is good is a red herring, other than showing that it is Softbank which is the problem and not the phone? This is old news: Sofbank has had coverage issues since the beginning. They say they are getting better.
