CNET News.com / May 19, 2003, 10:27 AM PT
Electronics giant Sony announced new software Monday that will allow Aibo owners to control the robot dog via e-mail commands. ..Aibo Eyes will work with the robot's built-in digital imaging system to beam digital photos of whatever the dog sees, allowing owners to use the computerized canine as a home surveillance device or to monitor their kids [via keitai].
Besides ordering the robot to capture images, the new software also accepts remote commands for Aibo to announce a prerecorded message, such as "Do your homework!"

BigDog the Robotic Pack Mule
robots.net, 4 Mar 2006 at 08:35 CST----Boston Dynamics has created BigDog the robotic pack mule that they claim is "the most advanced quadruped robot on Earth!" BigDog probably is as they claim as it can carry four infantry backpacks while keeping its balance over various terrains. In a video on the BDI site (28MB WMVbut worth seeing) you can see BigDog walking through mud, over slippery snow, over rocks, up a hill, and even keeps itself from toppling over when it's being kicked!....more....
