dv capture software for pc

Postby kotatsuneko » Sun Jun 15, 2003 2:48 pm

any reccomendations? mgi videowave 5 came with my camcorder but the capture options are almost non existent and the end results are really bad, i want to clear up some tape space , but want to be sure i have a good quality set of captures safe on dvdr first, so any advice/reccomendations on which packages are good and easy to use would be appreciated!

cheers! ^^

10,000 yen a month, and most of that goes on supermarket or when she wants to go out for a meal ..

still, having less cash means i walk more, maybe a good 6 hours a week at least so ive lost a good few inches off the waistline.. then again i hardly do any work so i shouldnt really complain ^^

Don't know much about 'reasonable' PC DV software (iMovie is free with every Mac). But these links I've gathered over at Fusion Arena might help. Or at least point you in the right direction:
1: Reasonable DV editing software:
iMovie ($49): - http://www.apple.com/imovie
Sreenblast ($69): - http://www.screenblast.com/
Ulead Video Studio ($99): - http://www.ulead.co.uk/vs/runme.htm

hey hey! cheers guys! tons of info and links there, damn sweet of y'all!

well some of those might take a year or so of pocket money to get tho ^^

really, ta for the info and links, i really want to make the most of the crap i end up filming.. and thanks to the great advice of Pongi Tono, it doesnt look quite as bad as before!!

man, you lot sure know a lot about dv, one would almost think you have some kind of side business involving it... i wonder if Evil Pongi could reveal the titles.. i can imagine it now "GuyJean VS CS in pink parlour paradise"...

If price is an option, you can get WinDV here for 0.00 yen:

http://windv.mourek.cz

Then you can use VirtualDub for editing also at the same low price of 0.00 yen:

http://www.virtualdub.org

My theory as to why there are so many DV gurus on this board is summed up in three words "Amateur Internet Porn!" Now where the hell did I place my thong.

To aid in your editing

Postby Caustic Saint » Sat Jun 21, 2003 2:24 pm

If you're getting fancy with your editing you may want to check out something like this. I don't know how good this one is, but the price ($37 + shipping - and they do ship internationally) is pretty darned good.

Command Post

And it comes with Videowave 4. I know that's a step back from the version 5 that came with your camcorder, Kotatsuneko, but it may be worth a look.

Do any of you who do your own editing use anything like this?
